DESCRIPTION
Magnesium Sulphate 50% Injection Solution is a sterile preparation of magnesium sulphate in water. This product is widely used in veterinary medicine for the prevention and treatment of hypomagnesemia, a condition characterized by low magnesium levels in the blood that can result in tetany and convulsions. In cattle, calves, and sheep, this condition can be life-threatening if not addressed promptly. In pigs, magnesium sulphate is utilized to reverse the malignant hyperthermia syndrome, a severe hypermetabolic state that can occur due to anesthesia or stress.
Magnesium is an essential mineral that plays a significant role in maintaining normal bone metabolism, nerve function, and muscle irritability. When magnesium levels in the blood are insufficient, animals can experience a range of symptoms, from mild to severe, including muscle cramps, tremors, and convulsions. Magnesium is also essential for the cofactor system that links normal carbohydrate metabolism with phosphate metabolism and energy provision for muscle contractions. However, magnesium absorption is not very efficient, and its bioavailability depends on dietary composition. Uptake can be affected by excessive amounts of calcium, phosphates, or fats, as well as an alkaline pH.
This product is intended for veterinary use only and is suitable for cattle, calves, sheep, and pigs.
Cattle, calves, and sheep: Administer as an subcutaneous injection.
Pigs: Administer as an intravenous injection.
