How it works:

Sarolaner, the active ingredient in Simparica, acts as an acaricide and insecticide, targeting the central nervous system of insects and acarines.

Its primary mode of action involves blocking ligand-gated chloride channels, namely GABA and Glutamate, within the central nervous system of these pests. By disrupting these receptors, sarolaner hinders the uptake of chloride ions by GABA and Glutamate gated ion channels, leading to increased nerve stimulation and subsequent elimination of the targeted parasites.

Treatment of puppies less than 8 weeks of age and/or dogs weighing less than 1,3 kg should be based on a benefit-risk assessment by a responsible veterinarian.
